First Trailer for Mother Starring Noomi Rapace as Mother Teresa

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, the first official trailer for Mother, starring Noomi Rapace as Mother Teresa, has been unveiled alongside its premiere in the “Horizons” section of the Venice Film Festival. The film is being handled for sales at the festival by Kinology.

Directed by Teona Strugar Mitevska, the film explores one of the most complex religious figures at a pivotal moment in history. Set in India in August 1948, it follows the head of the Loretto convent as she eagerly awaits the chance to leave the order and establish a new religious mission. Mother, filmed in English, focuses on several crucial days in the saint’s life and the challenges she faced. The cast also includes Sylvia Hoeks and Nikola Ristanovski.

Mitevska had previously examined Mother Teresa’s life in the documentary Teresa and I, which drew from interviews with the last surviving nuns who had personally encountered the saint, touching on her controversial stances on issues such as abortion.
